BUSES
BUSES — The usual way to get around Madagascar (and within the capital) is by “taxi-brousse”, which are usually old Mercedes minibuses that can never be too crowded, stops every time someone wants to get on or off, and only depart when full. So there are no scheduled departures and arrival times can vary by up to 12 hours depending on when it left.
On a taxi-brousse, you’ll get chickens, ducks, and local people falling asleep on your shoulder. Taxi-brousses are OK for shorter distances (especially when traveling within the capital), but when you’re tall, your knees and back will be done after hitting the seats in front of you for hours.
